Provider and responsible body in the sense of the data protection act

Brickstone Hostel Ulm/Neu-Ulm
Anja Weihgold
Schützenstraße 42
89231 Neu-Ulm

Scope of Application
With this data protection declaration, users receive information about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of their data by the responsible provider.

The legal framework for the data protection is provided by the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG).

Collection of General Information
Each time you access this offer, we or the web space provider automatically collect information. This information, also known as server log files, is of a general nature and does not allow any association with your person.

Among other things, the following is recorded: name of the website, file, date, amount of data, web browser and web browser version, operating system, the domain name of your Internet provider, the so-called referrer URL (the page from which you accessed our offer) and the IP address.

Without this data, it would not be technically possible to deliver and display the content of the website. In this respect, the collection of the data is imperative. We also use the anonymous information for statistical purposes. They help us to optimize the offer and the technology. We also reserve the right to subsequently check the log files in the event of suspected illegal use of our offer.

Provision of paid services
In order for us to be able to provide paid services, we ask for additional data. This applies, for example, to payment details.

To ensure the security of your data during transmission, we work with encryption methods (such as SSL) via HTTPS, which reflect the current state of the art.

Contact form
If you contact us via the online form or by e-mail, we will save the information you have provided so that we can answer your query and ask possible follow-up questions.

Integration of services and content from third parties
Our offer sometimes includes content, services and benefits from other providers. These are, for example, maps provided by Google Maps, videos from YouTube as well as graphics and images from other websites. So that this data can be called up and displayed in the user’s browser, the transmission of the IP address is absolutely necessary. The providers (hereinafter referred to as „third-party providers“) perceive the IP address of the respective user.

Even if we endeavor to use only third-party providers who only need the IP address to be able to deliver content, we have no influence on whether the IP address may be saved. In this case, this process serves, among other things, statistical purposes. If we are aware that the IP address is being saved, we will inform our users.

Additional Data Collection On Site
Our hostel may collect additional information from you on site. This includes registration forms in which the personal details of our guests are collected. Here we collect, in particular, the date of arrival and expected departure, first and last names, nationality, address, number of travellers and their nationality as well as the passport number or number of the passport equivalent for foreigners.

We are legally obligated to collect and temporarily store these data by the Federal Registration Act (Bundesmeldegesetz). The registration forms are generally stored for one year from the day of arrival and will be destroyed within three months of expiry of the retention period.
The data processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c of the GDPR in conjunction with the respective statutory obligations (such as the Federal Registration Act).

Google Maps
Our website uses the Google Maps mapping service of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). In order for the Google Maps material we use to be included and displayed in your web browser, your web browser must be able to connect to a Google server, which may also be located in the US, when visiting the contact page. In the event that personal information is transferred to the US, Google has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield. This gives Google the information that the IP address of your device has been used to access the contact page of our website. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in the integration of a map service in order to establish contact. If you visit the Google Maps service on our website while logged in to your Google profile, Google may also link this event to your Google profile. If you do not want this linking with your Google profile to occur, you will need to log out of Google before visiting our contact page. Google stores your data and uses them for advertising, market research and personalized viewing of Google Maps. You may object to this data collection with Google. Further information about this can be found in the Privacy Policy of Google and the Additional Terms of Use for Google Maps.

Use of Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Due to the activation of IP anonymization on this website, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: Browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics.

You can find more information on terms of use and data protection at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/.

Google AdWords
This website uses the online advertising program „Google AdWords“ and, as part of this, conversion tracking. Google AdWords places a cookie on your computer if you have reached our website via a google ad. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Therefore cookies cannot be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers.

The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they will not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

If you do not want to participate in the tracking process, you can easily deactivate the Google Conversion Tracking cookie via your internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics. You can find out more about Google’s data protection regulations at http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/

Facebook Social Plug-In
We integrate plug-ins from the social network Facebook (address: 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA) on our website. You can recognize the plug-ins – you can find an overview here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/Plug-ins/ – by the Like button (Like) or by the Facebook logo.
If you call up one of our websites with a Facebook plug-in, a direct connection to Facebook will be established. We have no influence on the type and scope of the data collected, stored and processed by Facebook. We can only inform you according to our level of knowledge.

Facebook is informed via the plug-in that you have called up the corresponding website of our offer. This also applies to users who are not registered with Facebook. In this case, there is a possibility that Facebook will save the IP address.

If you are a member of Facebook and logged in, calling up a website with a Facebook plug-in can be clearly assigned to your Facebook user account. In addition, the plug-ins transmit all interactions, for example if you use the Like button or leave a comment.

To prevent Facebook from storing data about you, please log out of Facebook before visiting our website. You can also block the plug-ins with add-ons for the browser (for example „Facebook Blocker“).
You can find information on data protection regulations, the purpose and scope of data collection and data processing and the setting options for protecting privacy on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php.

Data Economy
In accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data economy, we only store personal data for as long as necessary or as prescribed by law (statutory storage period). If the purpose of the information collected no longer applies or if the storage period ends, we will block or delete the data.

Your Rights to Information, Correction, Blocking, Deletion and Objection
You have the right to request information free of charge about the personal data stored by us and / or to request a correction, blocking or deletion. Exceptions: It is the prescribed data storage for business transactions or the data is subject to the legal retention obligation.

For these purposes, please contact our data protection officer (contact details: at the end of the data protection declaration).

In order to be able to take a data lock into account at any time, it is necessary to keep the data in a lock file for control purposes. If there is no statutory archiving obligation, you can also request that the data be deleted. Otherwise, we will block the data if you wish.

Changes to our Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to make changes at any time to ensure that our data protection declaration always complies with current legal requirements. This also applies in the event that the data protection declaration has to be adapted due to new or revised services. The next time you visit our website, the new data protection declaration will apply.
